Strong appeal for both collectors and competitive players thanks to playable staples and fan-favorite Pokémon
After the smaller and more collector-focused Perfect Order expansion, Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution – Chaos Rising looks positioned to become one of the defining sets early on into the era. With over 120 cards in the main set, Chaos Rising slightly expands the card pool while placing a much heavier emphasis on competitive playability alongside collectible artwork. The biggest reason for that attention is simple: Mega Greninja EX.
Greninja has long been one of the Pokémon TCG’s most popular Pokémon, both among collectors and competitive players and its appeal often goes beyond playability. Greninja as the face of the expansion immediately gives it a larger appeal, especially with the continued hype surrounding Greninja-based archetypes after the release of Japanese counterpart, Ninja Spinner.
Several playable cards such as Special Red Card have drawn attention in City Leagues. There are also full art versions of Tool Scrapper, and Surfing Beach, which will already synergize with Mega Greninja EX (more on that later).

The biggest highlight in Chaos Rising is easily the Mega Greninja evolution line featuring Froakie, Frogadier, and Mega Greninja EX. Evolution-line Illustration Rares have become a huge hit with collectors lately, especially when the cards connect visually or look great together in a binder page.

The Mega Greninja EX Special Illustrated Rare is one of Chaos Rising's most sought-after cards.
This lineup pretty much checks every box; it appeals to Greninja fans, master set collectors, and even competitive players looking to bling up their decks. And because Greninja cards already have a strong track record in the secondary market, many collectors expect these to become some of the set’s biggest long-term chase cards.

The Mega Greninja EX Mega Hyper Rare is even rarer found only in 1 in every ~1800 packs.
Every big Pokémon TCG set usually has that one card everyone’s chasing, and for Chaos Rising, it definitely feels like that card is Golden Mega Greninja. Gold cards in the Mega Evolution era have already developed a reputation for being tough pulls, and pairing that rarity with a Pokémon as popular as Greninja instantly makes this one feel like a serious collector piece.
If the card stays relevant competitively while keeping that collector demand, there’s a good chance it ends up becoming one of the defining chase cards of the era. And realistically, most collectors lucky enough to pull it early are probably sleeving it up and moving it straight into a toploader or magnetic holder before it even touches a binder.

Illustrated by OKACHEKE, AZ's Tranquility's Special Art Rare may be the best Trainer card in Chaos Rising.
What's a Pokemon TCG set without a visually appealing Supporter card? AZ's Tranquility, illustrated by OKACHEKE (the illustrator behind the Misty's Psyduck IR in Destined Rivals) features the former king of Kalos perched on a tree, alongside Floette. Packed with punchy colors, it has easily become one of the most sought-after sets (and especially for fans who are familiar with the lore.)

Cinccino EX Illustraton Rare adds a little more whimsy to the Chaos Rising set.
Not every chase card in Chaos Rising leans toward Mega Evolution aesthetics.
The Cinccino line is arguably a popular collectors’ pick. After Scarlet & Violet, Cinccino is getting an EX form, and that comes with - to no surprise - its own Special Art Rare.
Cinccino EX IR looks poised to become a strong collector favorite thanks to its softer artwork style and broad appeal among cute Pokémon collectors.
