From the Forge

From the Forge are our internal updates, straight from the molten forges of Dragonscale. Here, we share what we’re crafting, refining, and upgrading next for your collection, along with insights and notes from our designers and founders.

Hey Collectors,

This is Jason, one of the founders and lead product designers here at Dragonscale. We want to thank you for your support with the previous PSA colors and our recent CGC color launch in January 2026.

Seeing our new colors make their way into collectors' homes around the world, and watching them frame and style their collections with fun, refreshing colors, is exactly why we build what we build.

New guard types are on the horizon!

One of our core missions at Dragonscale is simple: leave no collector behind. We know not every collection is built on PSA or CGC alone. Many of you have BGS slabs or pieces from other grading companies sitting alongside them. And those deserve the same level of protection and presentation.

Our team at Dragonscale is currently deep in the design process for new slab guards built to support BGS, TAG, ACE, and more. As collectors ourselves, we understand that every slab in your collection matters. Whatever finds its way into your collection, you should have the option to style, protect, and display it as you wish. And we’re building accordingly.

Release date when?

Before anything leaves the forge, it has to meet our standard: collector-grade, display-ready, and something we would proudly use on our own slabs. We don’t release products we wouldn’t use in our collection.

While we don’t yet have a confirmed release date, we’re targeting the BGS launch in the first half of 2026. Right now, our designers are conducting fit testing and material sampling for the new BGS guard molds. That means dialing in precision tolerances (smooth lock-in, easy application and removal) while refining the visual finish to ensure it looks and feels great on your slabs. Sparkle density. Color saturation. Everything matters.

TAG and ACE guards are still in development and do not yet have a target release estimate.

Representing other TCGs

While many of our collectors, ourselves included, are deeply rooted in Pokémon, we also recognize that this era of TCG is bigger than ever.

We’re seeing explosive growth and passionate communities forming around titles like One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, Riftbound, and many others. The landscape is expanding and it’s an exciting time to be a collector.

This year, our team will intentionally represent and showcase more non-Pokémon TCG content and product photography. We want our displays to reflect the full spectrum of what collectors are building today.

Color mismatch problems

On another note, we’ve received feedback that a few guard colors don’t fully match what’s shown on our website or in product images.

Certain colors (yes, looking at you, Spectral) have shown variation in saturation due to the dyeing process and pigment formulation used during production. In some product batches, this resulted in a more muted, faded finish than intended.

Our team is currently working with our manufacturer to improve pigment consistency and color accuracy in future runs. We appreciate the feedback and patience as we refine this.
